Regional Honors Orchestra

Emily, Hannah, and Caleb had the opportunity to play with the Regional Honors Orchestra last night in Richfield, Utah. Emily and Hannah both play violin and Caleb plays bass. They had a choice of whether to attend with the choir or the orchestra, but the numbers of those who could go were limited. They all chose to go with orchestra to give others in the choir a chance to go. I went to the concert (about an hour drive) and was so pleased to watch all three of them playing in that group. It is wonderful to see them use their talents. The only really sad thing about the night was that on my way home I was singing in the car and not paying attention to my speed as I went through Salina. I got ticketed. The officer was merciful and only marked me for ten over, a difference between $165 and $90. Not that I wasn't thankful, but I cried the rest of the way home. I was so careful about my speed the whole trip until then. I thought about it and I realized that the last two times I got pulled over, I was also singing. No more singing and driving for me, I guess!

The kids rode the bus because Caleb needed to put his bass away at the school, and I was going to just follow the bus to the school and bring them home. I had to make a few phone calls trying to get in touch with them after I was detained because I was almost an hour behind them. Fortunately, the bus driver lives in Levan, and she just brought them back to Levan and dropped them off at the post office on Main Street. By that time I was there to get them and bring them home. They were all very sympathetic to my situation, as was Russ.

Anyway, the kids had a great experience and a lot of hard work at RHO, and I was sincerely glad that they got to go!
