Emily's Dress Dilemma (Success)

Emily got asked to Junior Prom a few weeks ago. It's her first prom and she is really wanting to get a dress that will make this first time a big deal. After the violin Festival on Saturday, February 28th, she headed up to Provo with a couple of friends to do some shopping. Shopping for formals is so fun when you have a camera! The blue one is just what she wanted. She talked them down to $366, which was about $80 less than what the tag said. She wanted it so bad, and was about to plunk down her own money, but she decided to call mom first. Mom called Dad, and they both were having a heart attack over the price. It's Emily's own money, but she has made some commitments to herself that don't really jive with spending that much. We expressed our opinion, then left the decision up to her. A while later, Russ called her to talk to her about something else, and he found out she walked away from her dream dress. He was happy, I was happy, but I recognized what a sacrifice it was! She came home with some accessories she got for half price--earrings, a necklace, and a tiny tiara! It was painful for her, but I am proud that she practiced delayed gratification! Way to go Emily. Meanwhile, she still doesn't have a dress, so we're waiting to see how that turns out. Prom is March 21st.

That's great Em. I kinda had that problem once. I looked amazing in this purple dress that was that same style....I never ever got asked to prom but I was lookign just in case. My senior year I went with a group of girls, just so I could say I made it to one school dance. sigh. Anyway i found a dress and got it for $118. It was really nice. I did work on it my own to make it how I wanted. There are pictures on facebook if you haven't seen it. I added tulle to make the skirt bigger and bunches the skirt myself and it looked the same as the ones in the store that were hundreds more :)

I have a closet full of Prom dresses. I wish I could just send them to you! I would love for someone to be able to use them.

Your daughter looks gorgeous in all of those dresses!

That was really fun to see all the beautiful dresses and the more beautiful daughter. It was like all the fun of shopping in five minutes without leaving your house! That is so great that she was able to walk away. Was she able to find a dress? I will have to look to see if you posted pictures......
